The architectural mesh Façade system that uses Cambridge Architectural metal fabric used in the Austin Convention Center project shown on this page, is an example of how metal fabric panels on building tension systems can be used to decrease light pollution at night in an urban environment. The architectural mesh façades were used as cladding for a parking garage façade and physical plant constructed adjacent to each other in downtown Austin, TX. Mesh panels are used in conjunction with a commercial exterior lighting package to tone down the effect of the physical plant equipment lighting and interior parking garage lights. Although architectural louvers were considered for the parking garage, the outside/inside visibility requirements could not be met by these systems.
